Garden Cemetery Tours

Edinburgh’s Garden Cemeteries were designed to be places where “the public might perambulate, respect the ancestors and acquire some edification in the process.”

Every festival we are delighted to include the wonderful groups of volunteers who give up their time to care for some of these beautiful cemeteries. They can also take you on a tour of these tranquil spaces with a near encyclopaedic knowledge. It’s a beautiful way to learn about the past citizens of this great city…and get a good walk in at the same time!

Exhibitions

We are delighted to be hosting two exhibitions this year.

One Last Push

Disability History Scotland will be joining us with ‘One Last Push’ A handcrafted animation produced by award winning production company “Muckle Hen”. Featuring the voices of disabled people today reflecting on the impact of the sheer number of returning wounded of World War 1 on Scotland and how it brought about changes to society which remain fundamental to how we live today.

UncoverED

UncoverED is an Edinburgh Global funded project, working to rediscover Edinburgh alumni from around the world who have slipped through the cracks of history.

The project, led by Henry Mitchell and Tom Cunningham from the University of Edinburgh, and with the help of student researchers, found a number of alumni who have made important contributions to society, as well as incredible achievements during their life, which have not been fully recognised until now. We at Previously are proud to host a few of the stories this wonderful project has uncovered.
